Surrey Rainbow Choir

Mixed Voice Choir, United Kingdom

Surrey Rainbow Choir is proud to be the first LGBTQ+ choir in Surrey, UK. Launched in October 2019, this fledgling choir has already been making waves in the community: within a month of the choir’s launch being announced at the first ever Pride in Surrey event in August 2019, and even before the first rehearsal, the choir had attracted an astonishing 90 members!

Surrey Rainbow choir is the third UK choir founded by Cliff van Tonder BCAa under the Surrey Music ‘umbrella’ organisation, and provides an opportunity for members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to find their voice and express themselves in a safe, inclusive environment with like-minded people.

The choir sings a wide variety of songs, everything from iconic rock and pop anthems, 50s and 60s kitsch, 80s pop to contemporary hits and songs from show, but while the emphasis is on having fun and their performance entertaining, the choir’s approach is nothing short of professional. Surrey Rainbow Choir makes its debut public performance in early 2019.
