Elmbridge Choir

Elmbridge Choir

Mixed Voice Choir, United Kingdom

One of the largest community choirs in the UK, this impressive 130-strong mixed voice choir is based in Cobham, Surrey.

Founded in 2005 by our Festival organiser, Cliff van Tonder, to give people from all walks of life, regardless of musical background or experience, the opportunity to enjoy choral singing and performing, the choir welcomes and embraces all who share in the joy of singing!

Elmbridge Choir performs songs from a diverse repertoire: contemporary pop and rock, songs from the stage and screen, African chants as well as more traditional choral pieces.

As well as entertaining the local community with lively and engaging performances, Elmbridge Choir strives to make a difference to people’s lives. Together with Elmbridge Ladies Choir they form Surrey Music which has raised more than £180,000 for charities and worthy causes through performances.

In addition to a regular programme of community fundraising concerts, over the last few years the choir has recorded a CD, performed with UK pop group ‘Blake’, appeared in a television commercial for T-Mobile and recorded a charity song for the 2012 UK Paralympics.

Elmbridge Choir made its debut appearance on the European stage in 2008 in Prague and has since enjoyed considerable success in other European competitive and non-competitive festivals, including Krakow, Veneto, Bratislava (where they were awarded a silver diploma), Croatia and Malta.
