Hello and welcome to Brighton International Festival of Choirs 2021!

I am absolutely thrilled that you are considering joining us in July 2021 for what will undoubtedly be four very special days of spectacular choral music, fun and friendship. Hosting an international choral festival here in Brighton has been a personal dream of mine for many years, and it gives me enormous pleasure to be able to extend an invitation to you and your choir.

We have some fantastic venues lined up for you to perform in, from awe-inspiring churches and the incredible historic Brighton Dome Concert Hall to the lively seafront promenade, while our choral competition takes place in another of Brighton’s architectural glories, St Mary’s Kemp Town, a serenely beautiful Grade II listed Victorian church which boasts excellent acoustics.

Cliff van Tonder, BCAa - Festival Director

Brighton is renowned for hosting fantastic festivals and has something for everyone. Its seaside location, mix of tradition with contemporary and vibrant cultural scene make it the perfect festival location.  You are assured of a very warm and friendly welcome and I am confident that you will love your stay here and want to come back for more.

Our festival officially opens on the Thursday evening with a grand Parade of Choirs, processing right along the seafront and culminating in a welcome reception for all festival participants on Brighton’s famous Grade II listed Palace Pier. Here you can enjoy fairground rides and attractions as well as indulge in one of Britain’s gastronomic delights – fish and chips! I cannot wait to see all our participating choirs marching in excited anticipation alongside Brighton’s pebbly beach, proudly bearing their country’s flag.

I am so looking forward to meeting you and your choir in September 2020 as we make choral history together, participating in the first ever Brighton International Festival of Choirs!
